wxRIDE

wxRIDE is an Interactive Development Environment for Ruby, built with wxRuby for wxWidgets cross-platform GUI Toolkit. This application's goal, it to be a fully featured Development environment for Ruby, but support other languages, such as Perl, Python, C/C++, etc, etc.

Features include:

  • AUI Managed Interface, for simple Positioning, and Layout saving.
  • Project Creation
  • Output Capture
  • Self-Capture of Errors
  • Poject Explorer
  • Filesystem Explorer
  • This project is still currently under alpha stage development. Meaning that there is no official package to download, however you can download the code via SVN, by using:
    svn co http://wxride.rubyforge.org/svn/

The project is also looking for other developers to help out with developing more stuff for the Application. If your interested, please feel free to send an email to mario@ruby-im.net

    Revision 50 - Projects working!

Well, it's official, as of Revision 50, Projects are now working! They fully allow for files to be moved between projects, and the Workspace, removing the project from the workspace, as well as loading.

Major thanks go to Blaine Buxton for the inspiration behind the new Project handling layout.

    Changes

As with everything, there are always changes coming and going. So as with this, I figured I'd update people on what's been changing around these parts of the web. If you haven't noticed, I've opened up the ability to create Accounts on the site, so youc an post to blog entries, and pages, if they are opened to be posted to.

    Also....

Back to work, and Revision 21

Alright, so I'm back to work on wxRIDE somewhat. I've decided to get some stuff out there for what I've added since the last revision (18, and it took me 3 revision counts to get everything added!) Needless to say, there main reason for me getting the code into the SVN, is cause I wanted to ensure that Sean had the latest code I've been working with, for his soon to be implemented code for Syntax Highlighting of different syntaxes.

    Sygematic/GemTastic and MinGW wxRuby 1.9.7

Well, it's been a bit since I've reported stuff here, so I thought I'd come along, and give you guys an update on what is going on, since there does seem to be some interest here. Well, per a suggestion by Jonathan Maasland, I'm switching Sygematic to GemTastic. What's in a name anyways. Plus I do see the need to kinda separate Synaptic from the RubyGem GUI that I'm making. Also, we're pushing forward with a wxRuby 1.9.7 release sometime by next week.....

    New sub-project of wxRIDE

Hello All, I figured that I'd do some work that would also benefit wxRIDE at the same time, as the rest of the Ruby community. I've been talking with Luis Lavena, the new Maintainer of the One Click Installer project (OCI). He's been working on pounding out a MinGW Version of Ruby for the OCI project, so as to get away from the need to have MSVC to compile extensions, and such. This is the main reason as to my diversion of work to the MinGW Version of wxRuby....

Progress on MinGW version of wxRuby

Progress continues for the MinGW version of wxRuby. We've been successful in getting StyledTextCtrl and GraphicsContext to compile into wxRuby, so there's good news there... But as with good, there is bad......

    Work on adding syntaxes continues

I am currently working on adding a few other syntaxes besides Ruby to the code. For now, the user will only be able to select the language of interest, but ultimately the user will have control over almost every feature of the editor. Stay tuned!

wxRIDE on hold for a bit

    Hey All,

wxRIDE is a bit on hold, Sean is still working on getting things together for the StyledTextCtrl, to support more then 1 Syntax. But don't worry, there's a good reason for my attention to be diverted else where.....

    New Site!

Well, I have finally finished the layout for the new site, atleast for now. I will be migrating other things over to my own personal hosting site, that seem to not want to work on RubyForge itself, however Rubyforge will still remain the host for the various things, such as tracking bugs, mailing lists, and the SVN. You can always find the Rubyforge project at http://rubyforge.org/projects/wxride.
